Man Accused Of Driving Drunk With A Child In The Car

Ronald Anderson has four previous drunken driving convictions.

Mentor-on-the-Lake Police arrested a man Wednesday evening who is accused of driving while drunk with a 5-year-old child in the car.

An officer noticed Ronald R. Anderson's car as he was driving on Andrews Road and suspected Anderson might be drunk, Mentor-on-the-Lake Police Chief John Gielink said.

The officer stopped Anderson as he pulled into a parking spot on Buckeye Lane. Another adult and child were in the car with Anderson.

The policeman thought Anderson was drunk but Anderson refused to take a breathalyzer test so he was arrested, Gielink said.

When police patted down Anderson they found a small amount of marijuana in his pants' pocket, Gielink said.

Anderson, 38, of Painesville, was charged with misdemeanor counts of endangering children, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and drug abuse.

Anderson has four previous convictions for drunken driving but none in the last six years.

Judge John Trebets arraigned Anderson Thursday morning in . He set Anderson's bond at $10,000, which has not been posted yet.

Anderson's next court hearing is scheduled for May 16.
