Man Accused Of Breaking Into, Stealing From Mentor Home

Dominic Alesci has been charged with burglary and theft but he may face more charges

A man is accused of breaking into and stealing from a house Wednesday afternoon on Victoria Drive in Mentor.

A family member of the homeowner came inside and spotted Dominic Alesci trying to steal a television, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said.

Alesci dropped the TV and tried to run away but the man tackled him to the floor. At that point, Alesci introduced himself. He was -- at least at one point -- a friend of a different family member, Powers said.

Police went to the park and arrested Alesci Wednesday. He is accused of stealing cameras, an mp3 player and prescription drugs from the home.

He was charged with burglary and two counts of theft. Powers said that more charges may be coming as Alesci may be a suspect in at least one other burglary.

Alesci was arraigned Thursday morning in Mentor Municipal Court. The judge set his bond at $100,000, which was not posted.

His next court hearing is scheduled for Feb. 7.
