Former Best Buy Employee Admits To Stealing From Employer

Deric Estes Jr. pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of theft Thursday in Mentor Municipal Court

A seasonal Best Buy employee admitted to stealing from his former job.

Deric Estes Jr., 20, of Euclid, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of theft Thursday in Mentor Municipal Court.

Acting Judge Jeff McGaffick did not sentence Estes Thursday. Instead, he asked the court's probation department to compile a presentence report on him.

His sentencing hearing will be scheduled later.

Estes worked at the electronics retailer in December. During that month, he took $2,435 worth of iPods, video games and other equipment, police said.

The store noticed the missing equipment, investigated it and identified Estes as the culprit, according to police.
