Euclid Man Arrested for Using False Identities, Passing Bad Checks in Mentor

Thomas Rainey had three identities, two of which he used to buy furniture at Value City.

Mentor Police arrested a Euclid man who had three identities and passed bad checks at area retailers, including Value City Furniture.

The man police eventually identified as 49-year-old Thomas Rainey was arrested on five felony forgery counts, a felony count of passing bad checks, felony theft and misdemeanor falsification, according to the police department's Facebook page.

Before police identified him as Rainey, they learned that he had passed a bad check for $1,900 at Value City in March under the name, “Robert May.” Since then, he ordered furniture as “Terrie Evans.” Workers grew suspicious when he returned to the store as Evans.

Rainey had Ohio driver’s licenses issued to his aliases, along with several bank accounts. He also had a warrant out for his arrest in Euclid for passing bad checks.
