Emergency Phone Lines Are Working Again In Mentor

Emergency lines around the region were affected when a major fiber was cut in the Cleveland area

Updated at 3:16 p.m.

The 911 lines have been restored in the city of Mentor.

All Mentor City Hall phone lines were down earlier this afternoon, as well, but they have since been restored too.

Mentor's emergency lines went down at about 11:30 a.m. Friday. The city was not alone in its predicament either.

Emergency lines were down -- and some still are -- all over the region.

Departments from the Lake County Sheriff's Office to Parma to Vermillion to South Russell have reported outages, according to WKYC.

Fidelity Voice and Data posted this message on their website:

Please be advised that Fidelity Voice and Data is currently aware of an issue which appears to be a major fiber cut in the Cleveland area, outside of the Fidelity network, affecting multiple carriers. This outage has affected voice and data services for a portion of our customer base.
