Driver Crashes Into McDonald's PlayPlace In Mentor

Nobody in either the car or building were injured, according to the Mentor Fire Department

A motorist shattered a few windows and damaged the facade of the building when she crashed into the McDonald' PlayPlace on Reynolds Road at about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Fortunately, neither she nor anyone in the building was seriously hurt during the crash, Mentor Fire Battalion Chief Joseph Busher said.

The incident began when an 89-year-old woman from Mentor tried to turn left into the McDonald's parking lot, Mentor Police Lt. Dan Molnar said.

First, she hit a car while turning, Molnar said. Then she drove over the landscaping and into the front of the building.

Nobody in either of the affected cars or in the McDonald's needed to be taken to the hospital for treatment, Busher said.

Police are still investigating why the crash occurred.

The name of the woman who drove into the front of the building has not been released.

Why is an 89 year old woman allowed to operate a vehicle? Its an accident waiting to happen!

It's time we started yearly testing for drivers over the age of 65. You hear about these accidents far too often.
