Coroner: Erica McSween Died of Accidental Overdose

Erica McSween, the daughter of murdered bartender Annie McSween, died of an accidental overdose, Lake County Coroner Dr. Lynn Smith said.

McSween, 26, was found dead Jan. 23 at her home on Burridge Avenue in Mentor.

Smith said toxicology tests showed heroin and oxycodone in McSween's body when she died.

The oxycodone was prescribed to her for pain management.

Smith said that there was no evidence that anyone else had a hand in McSween's death.

McSween graduated from  in 2002.

,  and the FBI are still investigating Annie McSween's murder, but do not have a suspect yet.

Annie McSween, 49, of Mentor, was found murdered Nov. 26 near Mario's Lakeway Lounge on Andrews Road in Mentor-on-the-Lake. She had tended bar at Lakeway that evening and closed the bar by herself.

In interviews, Erica McSween repeatedly begged anyone with information about her mother's murderer to come forward.

"Everybody's working around the clock to find this person, and hopefully, with the money being offered, someone will come forward," she said after Crime Stoppers announced the reward. "I don't want anyone to be scared if they know something. They can do it anonymously.

"I just want want to get this person off the street, because I can't think of someone else going through what our family has gone through."
