Local police and judges worked "the bar" during the 18th annual Protect & Serve Tavern Saturday at Great Lakes Mall
The Protect & Serve Tavern returned Saturday afternoon to the Great Lakes Mall for its 18th year.
Local police and judges served nonalcoholic drinks and snacks to shoppers as a way to encourage them to have a safe and sober holiday season.
They also offered recipes for some nonalcoholic mocktails, made by local police departments.

Recipe by Lakeland Community College Police Department
1 part fruit punch Kool-Aid
1 part lemonade
1 part blue raspberry Kool-Aid
Put a popsicle stick in the fruit punch Kool-Aid and freeze it. After the fruit punch has froze, add a layer of lemonade and let it freeze. Finally, when both layers are frozen, add the blue raspberry and freeze it, as well.
The Missing Link
Recipe by Mentor Police Department
4 Scoops vanilla ice cream
12 ounces frozen orange juice
1/4 cup of clear soda
1 tsp. vanilla extract (if desired)
Mix well in a blender and serve.
Fire & Ice
Recipe by Kirtland Hills Police Department
Part 1: 16 oz. of Sprite
2 atomic fireballs (dissolve in the Sprite)
Part 2: 3 cups whipping cream
1 cup milk
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. cinnamon (Heat until sugar dissolves; cool and chill.)
Drink part one and two in quick succession.
Girl Scout Cookie

2 cups vanilla ice cream
1 1/4 cup of 2 percent milk
1/4 tsp. mint extract
Chocolate syrup and cocoa powder to garnish
Blend together and serve.

Blend to desired taste and serve.

1 Tbsp. Marshmallow fluff
1/4 cup chocolate syrup
Bailey's coffee creamer (to taste)
1 cup skim milk
Ice
Blend until smooth and serve.
Lemon Pursuit

16 oz. Arnold Palmer (Half lemonade/Half iced tea)
3 scoops lemon sorbet
1 1/2 tsp. honey
Mix and serve.
Zombie Apocalypse
Eastlake Police Department
2 cups Squirt
2 cups cherry juice
2 cups rainbow sherbet
1/2 cup ice
Blend until smooth and serve.
Tootsie Pop Rock
Willowick Police Department
2 cups Sprite
2 cups apple juice
1/2 cup chocolate syrup
1/4 cup cherry juice
1/4 cup karo syrup
1/4 cup lemon juice
Whipped cream.
Mix well. Top with whipped cream.
