Career Thief Philip Crouse Arrested For Stealing From Cars Again

Crouse was released from jail on a personal bond two days before he stole again, according to police

Philip Crouse -- -- has accrued two new theft charges in Mentor.

Crouse, 49, of Painesville, is accused of stealing from one car in the Longo's Pizza parking lot on July 18 and another in the Buffalo Wild Wings lot on July 19, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said.

On July 18, a delivery man for Longo's left his car running while he ran inside the restaurant to grab more pizzas. When he got back someone had taken his Blackberry.

Detectives looked at the store's security camera footage and recognized Crouse -- a man who was , Powers said.

Then, on July 19, someone smashed the window of a car parked in the Buffalo Wild Wings lot and stole a laptop. The victim saw the thief -- a white man in a red pickup truck, which is what Crouse drives, Powers said.

Police arrested Crouse and he is scheduled to be arraigned today in .

Crouse was in jail until July 16 when Visiting Judge Paul Mitrovich released him on a personal bond, according to Mentor Municipal Court records. He faces a felony count of theft from the Lake County Sheriff's Office and .

Crouse has a lengthy history of grand and petty theft. He was arrested in 2004 and charged with counts of theft, burglary and breaking and entering and disrupting public service in Lake County Court of Common Pleas.

A jury convicted him and he was sentenced to five years in prison.

However, he got back into trouble when he was released. He was convicted of theft twice in 2011 in Painesville Municipal Court.

Crouse also pleaded guilty to , CVS and earlier this year in and was sentenced to six months in jail.

However, the sentence was later modified and the balance of his jail term was suspended after two months, according to online municipal court records.
