Another Rape Suspect Arraigned In Mentor

Nicholas Sutton is accused of molesting a woman after she fell asleep

A Mentor man is accused of raping an 18-year-old woman on April 15 after a house party.

Nicholas Sutton, 21, was a house guest at a party on Cedarwood Drive, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said.

At about 4 a.m., the alleged victim had been sleeping next to her boyfriend (who is not Sutton) when she woke up and saw Sutton molesting her, Powers said.

The woman shouted at Sutton and he ran away, Powers said.

Two days later, the victim called police and reported the incident.

After police spent about a week tracking down and interviewing witnesses, Sutton turned himself in and let police interview him with his attorney present.

Sutton was charged with rape and arraigned Tuesday in .

Judge John Trebets set Sutton's bond at $250,000, which was not posted. Sutton's next court hearing is scheduled for May 7.

This is the second consecutive day in which a rape suspect was arraigned in Mentor. On Monday, .

Yeckley, 21, of Willowick is suspected of bringing a 13-year-old girl to a motel in Mentor on April 21, plying her with alcohol and then having sex with her, Powers said.

Yeckley's and Sutton's cases are unrelated.

There are too many people in this city crying out for attention, if you want it do it in another way. This ruins families and their reputations, before you point fingers make sure your hands are clean

Deffinitly a cry for attention. She doesnt realize how serious this is.. This story sounds rediculous if you ask me.

This case will ultimately be decided in the courts, not in the media or in online forums. However, it should be noted that it's not unheard of for victims of violent crimes (and that includes rape) to not report a crime immediately. Sometimes, they are still in shock. That does not mean the suspect's guilty or that he's not guilty. But we should not assume the woman in this case is lying simply because she did not immediately report the incident. (To be clear, Sutton -- like every one else -- is innocent until proven otherwise.)

Just because that's not how YOU would go about doing it doesn't mean she's guilty of anything. Cry for attention? Being raped is the ULTIMATE humiliation for a woman(oh and she's 18 with a vagina, definition? WOMAN!) which is probably why she wasn't so quick to scream 'Hey I was violated and used' to the world. But just like me.. you weren't there, you don't know. And thank you Jason for your comment!

CHARGES WERE DROPPED. SHE DIDNT EVEN HAVE AN ATTORNEY IN COURT. and to be honest i believe this article should have never been posted until AFTER the court date. i hope nick can find a way to sue her ass and anyone involved with this article for just plain embarrassment. i find it horribly wrong to post anything like this until he would have been seen as guilty. now i would love to see a story on her for purjury. but of course we wont see that.

It is a public forum and it states (accused) not convicted. You're mad because you know him, but these kinds of stories are in the news daily. It wouldnt be "news" if they waited until after court to report a story, sometimes those cases take years.

There doesn't need to be semen (thats how it's spelled you "fool") for it to be considered rape. Rape is any act of sexual intercourse that is forced upon a person without his/her consent. Seeing as she was sleeping and definitely did not consent, THIS IS RAPE. She is not ruining his life by reporting this. He ruined his own life for doing it.
