POLL: Pick the Best Option for DuBois Property

Patch's "Visions for Vacancies" asks for reader input on vacant commercial properties

Earlier this week we asked you what you think would be the for the vacant former DuBois Book Store property on South Lincoln Street.

We received lots of interesting suggestions, which you can vote on in the poll below.

The property has been vacant since in June 2011.

A year round produce, farmer's market-type, store with an aqauponics mini-farm on one entire floor. This would also be a training farm tied into the university and the local schools. A self sustaining, hands-on lab for the science and business disciplines as well as a point of contact for local real food. A full kitchen for food prep and processing.

what about low-cost housing for seniors? It is right across the street from Kentway, on a bus line, close to downtown and drugstores. Kent is in sorry need for this.

I love the idea of a year-round farmer's market, but if not possible, parking! there is NEVER enough parking!

We are STILL looking for a site for which to relocate the historic Wells-Sherman House! Wouldn't this make a lovely place for it? We have some interesting ideas regarding a creative reuse for it, too, that would fit the University and our city quite well. Please consider it!
