Be a Hero, Learn Hands Only CPR in 15 minutes

You could could learn how to save a life in 15 minutes. Isn't a life worth 15 minutes of your time? Stop by and see us at It's Better in Mentor festival at Mentor Fire Station 5.

The Mentor Fire Department wants everyone in Mentor and visitors to learn Hands Only CPR.  The goal of everyone learning Hands Only CPR is to increase the odds of someone surviving from sudden cardiac arrest.  The American Heart Association has accepted Hands Only CPR, when Hands Only CPR helped to increase the survival rate from sudden cardiac arrest from 5% to over 20% in the State of Arizona.

We will be teaching Hands Only CPR during the It’s Better In Mentor festival at Mentor Fire Station 5 (by City Hall) during the following times:

Please stop by and take 15 minutes to Learn Hands Only CPR during the festival.  If you don’t get to see us this weekend, call us at (440)974-5769 to schedule a Hands Only CPR class.  Hands Only CPR will only increase the odds of a sudden cardiac arrest victim surviving if people know how to perform Hands Only CPR and are willing to help.

The Mentor Fire Department is also going to businesses, schools, and organizations to teach Hands Only CPR.  If your business, school, or organization would like to host a Hands Only CPR class, please call (440)974-5769.  The class is free and depending on audience size can be completed in 15 minutes.  We can host the class at your location or ours depending on your needs.  But we have been to church picnics and even the Doc’s Deepwood Motorcycle Run to teach Hands Only CPR.  Wouldn’t you want to know all of your coworkers or congregation could help if you went into sudden cardiac arrest?

The Mentor Fire Department has significantly contributed with Lake Health and the Lake County Fire Chief’s Association to develop the Hands Only CPR program for Northeast Ohio.  All of these organizations have committed to the program titled “Keep the Beat” with the goal to teach 10,000 people Hands Only CPR in Lake County.  The Mentor Fire Department committed to teaching 3,000 people in Mentor, but this number is such a small portion of our population and work force in Mentor.  Please help us surpass this number and educate everyone on Hands Only CPR.  We want every victim of sudden cardiac arrest to receive CPR, if we can do this we can increase Lake County’s sudden cardiac arrest survival rate from 5% in 2011 to well above 20%.

So stop into Mentor Fire Station 5 this weekend and see all of the hard work the Mentor Fire Department and the Mentor Channel 12 staff put into creating a Hands Only CPR instructional video.
