Mentor Boys Soccer Win Again! Beat Shaker Heights 4-1 - Remain Unbeaten!

The Mentor Boys Soccer Team are still unbeaten through 14 games.  With 2 games left, the boys have their eye on the State Title! Next game away against NEO Conference, Valley Division opponent Strongsville High School is Tuesday Oct. 8th and a win will clinch the Valley Division of the Northeast Ohio Conference for the Cardinals.

Recap: MHS vs SHAKER HEIGHTS - Thursday, 10/4/13
The boys played strong against NEO Conference member Shaker Heights. Everyone contributed to the exciting win with Alan Wardeiner striking first in the first 20 minutes. Jake Lombardo got two more goals to add to his long list with assists by Tim Noll and Colin Eedy.  Kurt Raney finished the game off with a goal in the 75th minute assisted by Ryan Brass.

The defense led by goalkeeper Matt Markiewicz were close to adding another shutout to their 8 shutouts in 14 games but a Penalty Kick by Shaker in the 2nd half hit the back of the net and the boys had to settle for a 4-1 final score. Markiewicz recorded 2 saves from 3 shots on goal the Raiders managed to complete. Mentor scored on 4 shots on goal out of 8 tries.

NEXT GAME - PREVIEW
The boys meet Strongsville away at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 8th.  A win at Strongsville (2-8-1) Tuesday will clinch the Valley Division of the Northeast Ohio Conference for the Cardinals.  This will provide us a high seed in the postseason.  Finally, the Cardinals will play a conference crossover game (Southwestern Conference) with Amherst Steele (3-7-3) at home for their final game of the regular season.  This game will also be Senior night when we honor our Seniors on their last regular season home game.
