Three Beauty Mistakes that Can Make You Look Older

Here are a few quick common aging beauty mistakes that can be quickly and easy fixed!

We all want to look our best (and youngest!), which is why from time to time (especially as we age) we need to evaluate our beauty routine and see what works best. Here are a few quick common aging beauty mistakes that can be quickly and easy fixed!

Applying Heavy Eyeliner

Using harsh dark eyeliner can instantly make eyes appear smaller, which can
add years and highlight wrinkles. Try using cake eyeliner and applying with a
small angled brush, or if you are using a pencil make sure you blend it with a
brush or your fingertips. Blending in eyeliner gives your makeup a more natural
look that’s less aging. Avoid using a black liner, try brown or even a mauve or
navy hue depending on your skin tone.

The long-held belief that light hair makes you look younger is being
debunked. Lighter hair doesn’t go with all skin pigments and can age you. As skin
becomes sallow or yellow as we get older the combination may wash you out,
highlight skin imperfections and no longer be as flattering as it was when you
were younger.

Instead of matching your hair to your skin tone, try to contrast it. If you
have olive skin, choose a deep, reddish-brown hair color; if you have paler
skin, brighten your look with a light brown dye—you can always add highlights
and lowlights, especially in the interim so you can get used to the new ‘younger’
hue.

Overusing Powder and Concealer

Caking on makeup to hide wrinklesand other imperfections can settle into fine lines and wrinkles which will accentuate them not cover them. There are some great tinted moisturizers out there that will help diminish lines and wrinkles as well as give your skin a healthy glow. From there you can add concealer to cover under-eye circles and discolored spots. You can finish with a light dusting of mineral or loose powder to help seal and reduce shine, but avoid heavy cake powders.
