1 Lake Metroparks has preserved natural resources and maintained clean, safe
parks in Lake County for 54 years while serving 2.4 million visitors annually.
2 The state reduced local parks funding to balance its budget. Coupled with lower
property tax collections, the park district has lost $3 million in annual funding.
3 Lake Metroparks cut its budget by 5% in 2012 and froze all staff salaries for the
past two years. There are now fewer employees than in 1994, and they manage
more parks and programs than ever before.
4 Issue 7 replaces an existing 0.3-mill levy and adds 0.5-mill that only partially
makes up for the funding loss.
5 Issue 7 is an additional $1.56 a month per $100,000 of property.
6 Issue 7 prevents cuts to educational and conservation programs that protect
natural resources.
7 Issue 7 keeps our parks, trails, shelters and openspaces clean, safe and
