Woolfest at Lake Metroparks Farmpark

Woolfest at Lake Metroparks Farmpark is a wonderful opportunity to explore all things fiber.

It may seem a bit odd to be talking about wool in the midst of the heat and humidity. But the upcoming weekend gives us a chance to celebrate and explore this amazing fiber at Woolfest. The event takes place at Lake Metroparks Farmpark this Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

For fiber-lovers, Woolfest gives you the opportunity to wander the marketplace where you can find handspun and hand-dyed yarns, spinning wheels, weaving amd knitting supplies, raw fiber and finished items.

One of the things I love about knitting is that I continue to learn new things. It may be a new technique, working with a different kind of yarn, or even learning a new aspect of the "fiber to shawl" process. There are workshops available for those interested in learning a new skill.

I have also enjoyed Woolfest with my family. It's a great time to explore just where fibers come from. And who can resist the adorable alpaca, sheep and llamas?

The event includes demonstrations on how these fiber-producing animals are herded and sheared and how their fiber is processed. Hands-on activities are also available, in addition to all the regular Lake Farmpark attractions. Admire the beautiful fiber art displayed in the Visitor Center.

Head out to explore the wonders of wool this weekend. With our Northeast Ohio winters, you can never be covered in too much wool.
