Moms Talk: Favorite Halloween Costume Worn by Your Child

Local moms discuss Halloween memories

Each week the Mentor Patch Moms Council answers a question on parenthood posed to them by readers or another member of council.

This week our question is: What is your favorite Halloween costume ever worn by your children?

My kids really love Halloween, so we’ve had a lot of favorite costumes. When my kids were 1 and 2 my son had an adorable Winnie the Pooh costume and my daughter was the honey pot. They were adorable together and the costumes were warm to boot.

When my kids were 2 and 3 we vacationed in St. Thomas in October and the resort we stayed at had a pirate theme. There were these 2 guys at the pool who dressed up as pirates the entire week. At first they scared the kids, but they ended up being really sweet and took a liking to the kids. As we departed that week they gave the kids all their pirate gear. I ended up sewing pirate costumes when we got home and together they went trick-or-treating as pirates.

Another favorite was when my daughter was 3. She LOVED the Lion King that year, so of course she had to be Nala. It ended up being a blustery night, so the warm fur of the costume was perfect.

There were so many fun costumes my kids wore when they were little. My little carpenter (just like dad), my little angel, batman, princess and more. But one of my all time favorites was when my son was about 13 and dressed as Ozzie Osbourne. He was hysterical.

He had long hair at the time , wore black pants, shirt and blazer. He wore sunglasses and ran around yelling "Sharon!" I really wish I had taken a picture of that costume.

My favorite was probably when my daughters were 2.5 and 6 months old. My older daughter was a princess — her sister was a baby dragon.

When I only had my oldest two girls, they went as Thing 1 and Thing 2, complete with fuzzy blue yarn wigs. They were so cute it hurt to look at them!

When my girls were little, I made two clown costumes with matching hats.  They had warm coats under the flannel costumes and with hats on their head that matched. They kept the hats on. They were really cute and warm.
