Extreme Increase in Mosquitos Expected After Mentor Flooding

Standing water creates ideal breeding ground for biting bugs

Lake County health officials expect an extreme increase in mosquitos after flooding and heavy rainfall in Mentor these last few weeks, our partners at WEWS News Channel 5 report.

Weekend rain caused flooding in Mentor and Lake County, leaving standing water where mosquitos lay eggs.

The Lake County Health District recommends that residents try to eliminate standing water around their homes to prevent the spread of disease by mosquitos.
