Mentor Fire Giving Lock Boxes to Needy Residents

Boxes allow first responders to enter locked homes easily in case of emergency

The Mentor Fire Department is giving away $35 lock boxes to residents in need, Cleveland.com reports.

Mentor Fire Department installs the boxes outside homes of residents who anticipate having medical emergencies, such as the elderly or those with chronic conditions, and residents keep a spare key inside.

Fire and police have a key to the box and can enter the home more easily in case of an emergency.
