For decades, northern Ohio fans of Thomas Kinkade have flocked to Mentor’s Gallery One for a special Thanksgiving Weekend event that annually features a celebrated Kinkade Master Highlighter and scores of outstanding Kinkade images.
This year, the event will take place on Friday, November 29, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, November 30, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors are welcome to watch the Master Highlighter as she adds color and texture to Kinkade canvases.
These additional embellishments (as originally directed by the late Thomas Kinkade himself) make each canvas look unbelievably like an original painting. In fact, special Kinkade certificates authenticate each highlighted canvas.
"This is a unique opportunity for the collector to observe and interact with a highlighter and learn more about Thomas Kinkade's art,” said Alan Brown, gallery president. “Highlighters are professional artists who were personally selected and trained by Thom himself. Only the best of the best are designated ‘Master Highlighters.’”
Highlighting of canvas works purchased from Gallery One is free. Works purchased elsewhere are eligible for highlighting for a nominal fee, time permitting.
Also featured at this year’s event will be dozens of new Kinkade canvases, including the long-awaited canvas version of “Fantasia” and “A Christmas Story,” commemorating Cleveland’s West 11th Street scene made famous in the movie of the same name. Several videos will be shown including the biographical films, “An American Artist, the Thomas Kinkade Life Story” and “Christmas Cottage” along with Disney’s “Fantasia.”
