Landlord Education Forum

The
Coalition for Housing and Support Services of Lake County invites all landlords
and property managers to the annual Landlord Education Forum, which will be
held from 6 to 8 p.m. May 1 at Morley Library in Painesville.

Melissa
Winfield, executive director of the Lake Metropolitan Housing Authority, and
chair of the Coalition, said the event developed from a desire to help improve
landlord relationships with both the housing authority and tenants.

“We wanted
to move out of just the housing authority trying to educate our landlords,” she
said. “A lot of the landlords have the same issues, and it all stems from
prevention.”

The event,
which will feature a panel discussion from the Fair Housing Resource Center and the Legal Aid Society, will inform and educate landlords and property managers
on many components of property management.

Topics to be
covered include landlord/tenant issues, housing inspections, lease violations,
and the interface between landlords and supportive housing agencies.

“Landlords
are an integral part of Lake County’s quality housing market,” Winfield said.
“We’re hopeful new landlords will come so they can learn about the benefits of
renting to a public housing person.”

are appreciated and can be made by calling 440-354-3347 x13. More information
