Hitchcock for the Holidays: "Psycho" movie expert discusses the film legend Dec. 13


 


With a new film about Alfred Hitchcock opening this holiday season, Lakeland's resident “Psycho”expert is ready to share his insight about the impact that the filmmaker’s work had on cinema.

Lakeland film and English Professor, Phil Skerry Ph.D., will hold a free presentation about the cult status of Alfred Hitchcock and his films on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Lakeland Library, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, 44094, C Building, third floor. Classes, groups and individuals are encouraged to attend. Free public parking is available.

Skerry is the author of the only book written about only one scene in a movie.


 


"The Shower Scene in Hitchcock's Psycho: Creating Cinematic Suspense And Terror" (Studies in the History and Criticism of Film), examines the importance of “Psycho’s”shower scene as a defining moment in the cinematic horror genre. 


 


Skerry is professor emeritus of English at Lakeland Community College. A local cinemaphile, he maintains several contacts and ties to Hollywood film industry professionals. He resides in Beachwood.
