History Center’s “Déjà Vu” brings back the Fabulous
50’s

The
Lake County Historical Society rolls out its third annual “Déjà vu” signature
fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 9 in the Starlight Room at St. Noel’s  in Willoughby Hills.  From the moment of arrival, pausing for a
picture with the 1956 Thunderbird parked adjacent to the front door, guests
will find themselves in the high energy, juke boxed fueled high times of the
50’s.  This event is the signature event
of the Society and funds raised support the year-long operational costs of the
Lake County History Center in Painesville Township.

Known
as one of the most energetic and creative evenings in Lake County, the decade
of the “DejaVu” event changes each year.
Last year is was the 1940’s and guests arrived in WWII uniforms, “Rosie
the Rivator” outfits and gangsta style suits and hats.  This year, event organizers are hoping to see
old letter jackets, poodle skirts, pom poms and cigarette packs rolled up in
tee shirt sleeves.  The night features
many opportunities to spend money on Chinese auctions with unique prizes
donated by area businesses as well as the famous “Spirits Table” which features
the best in top drawer spirits and a single ticket will bring the winner over
two dozen bottles of the very best.

An
adjacent room will feature the charity casino, a lively area geared to having
fun, learning some of the popular casino games and coming out a winner.  Cocktails will be served from 6:00-7:00pm
with a full buffet dinner served in the Starlight Room at 7:00pm.  This beautiful room with its twinkling dance
floor lights will feature a visit from the superstar of the 1950’s, Elvis!  Contraire to popular belief, Elvis will be in
the building to meet visitors, take photos with guests and entertain the crowd
from 7:30-8:00pm.  The  beat picks up at 8:00pm as one of N.E. Ohio’s
most popular groups, Fat City, takes the stage to play from 8:00pm until
closing at 10:00pm.  Often described as a
“just come and have fun” kind of evening, DejaVu – The Fabulous 50’s, is
chaired by Morris Beverage III with Wernick Wealth Management and Josh
Strickland with Dworkin Bernstein with the help of LCHS staff and volunteers.

The
Lake County History Center is an 8-acre complex in Painesville Township, site
of the previous Lake County Home built in 1876.
The facility serves as the County history museum and historic documents
and artifacts repository, home to the Historic Frontier Village and popular
Pioneer School program, local history research library and site of both adult
and family community based programming.
Funds to operate the Center come from private donations, foundations,
special events and community fund raisers such as this.

The
cost of tickets is $75 per person including the open  bar, buffet, dessert table and all the
entertainment and dancing.  Sponsorships
are available from $300-$1000 and include tickets to the event.  The Society urges area residents to support
Déjà vu on Feb. 9, 2013 as a way of helping the Society celebrate its 75 years
serving Lake County.  For reservations or
further information, contact 440-639-2945.
