3rd Annual Turkey Day 5K

The Lake County YMCA will be hosting its Third Annual 5K Run/Walk on Thanksgiving day, Thursday, November 28, at the Central Branch in Painesville beginning at 8:30 am.

Pumpkin pies will be awarded to the top finisher of each age group and the top three overall finishers. An additional prize will be awarded to the best dressed runner. Age groups are defined as: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over.

Check-in begins at 7:30 am on race day with the run/walk beginning at 8:30 am. The race route will begin and end at the YMCA Central Branch as it twists east through a bike path and Lake Erie College. Electronic timing will be available to runners.

Pre-registration Fee is $20 per person until November 21. Race Fee is $25 per person through November 27 and $30 per person on Race Day and includes a free t-shirt (No shirt guaranteed for registrations after November 21). Pre-register online (www.lakecountyymca.org) or call 440-352-3303, registration is accepted until the morning of the race.

In addition, the Central Y is currently offering a 5K Training Coach program scheduled Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6-7pm, from October 14 thru November 25.  The group will give first time 5K runners guidance and resources to successfully finish the annual Turkey Day 5K run/walk. Training Coach program is $15 for Y members and $50 for program participants/ nonmembers. For more information on the group, contact Beth Horvath at 440-352-3303.
