Storm Knocks Out Power for Some of Mentor

Some flooding was also reported after the storm

A thunderstorm this morning has caused about 2,500 homes and businesses in Mentor to lose power, as well as some localized flooding.

The power outages struck along Ohio Road, Lake Shore Boulevard, Bellflower Road, Route 306 and more, according to Mentor residents.

FirstEnergy spokesman Mark Durbin said crews are already working to restore power.

"We're hopeful that we can get everyone back on in a relatively short time," Durbin said.

However, Durbin cautioned that the process could take time and some residents may be without power later into the evening.

Meanwhile, the rain caused water to rise on Tyler Boulevard and Corporate Boulevard. While the roads remained open, drivers were directed around some particularly deep puddles.

The water has since receded, according to dispatchers.
