STERIS Keeps Growing & Stroud Admits To Murder: The Week In Review

1. A lot of big news this week in Mentor -- so much that I hardly know where to begin.

Well, when in doubt, start with the money.

2. Former Mentor Police officer and Lake County special deputy Gary Stroud in Lake County Court of Common Pleas.

Stroud, 59, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, admitted to Judge Joseph Gibson that he repeatedly struck his wife, Diane Stroud, in the head with a hammer and then hid her body in their garage for weeks.

Stroud will face a mandatory punishment of 15 years to life in prison when he is sentenced Aug. 8.

3. Not to overwhelm this recap with crime news, but Mentor Police are looking for the man who robbed the Dollar Bank on Mentor Avenue earlier this week.

4. The beach stretching across the has lost more than 200 feet in the last eight year.

To stop the erosion, the city has proposed building a 500-foot breakwall.

5. A Mentor man into the woods and threatening to sexually assault one of them has had his bond revoked.

Kevin Gallagher, 53, because he is accused of failing to abide by the terms of his bond.

According to police, he failed to keep his GPS anklet charged, which was a term of his house arrest.

Now he's being held in jail without bond.
