National Weather Service Issues Flood Warning for Lake County

Mentor is as yet unaffected, but some roads in Perry, Painesville and Madison are closed because of high water

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Lake County until 9:30 a.m. today.

While no roads in Mentor are closed because of rain, the eastern end of the county was less fortunate. High water has closed several roads in Madison, Perry and Painesville.

The National Weather Service has said the water will likely not recede until the mid- to late morning.

Meanwhile, the Grand River has risen above its flood banks. The river can contain eight feet of water without flooding. As of 8 a.m., it was at 8.5 feet.

At this flood stage, the river's waters reach Vrooman Road and the surrounding Lake Metroparks land.
