Mentor To Hold Annual Walking Parade & Ceremony This Memorial Day

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Bob Zonneville, a Mentor resident with two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star, will speak

The city of Mentor will hold its annual solemn walking parade and ceremony this Memorial Day.

The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at and continue to the on Hopkins Road.

The parade will include military groups, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Mentor High School band, said parade organizer and Recreation Superintendent Paul Hegreness.

A ceremony will start at 10 a.m. at the Vietnam Memorial where will speak.

Zonneville is a Mentor resident who was injured twice while serving in World War II. He has earned two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his service.

Hegreness noted that it was nice to have a WWII veteran speak, in part because there are fewer of them each year.
