Mentor Road Repairs: 16 Streets To Be Repaved

Orange barrel season will soon be in full swing, and two Northeast Ohio firms will take care of the work in Mentor.

City Council on Tuesday approved three contracts for two firms — Stow-based Karvo Paving Co. and A & J Cement Contractors of Euclid. The three contracts, collectively worth about $970,000, are part of a larger construction season that will cost the city about $1.8 million, City Manager Kenneth Filipiak said.

Mentor will pay Karvo $709,268.80 to provide asphalt pavement resurfacing on a combined 3.5 miles of the following streets:

• Victoria Drive
• Kephart Drive
• Market Street
• Musnon Road
• Erie Drive
• Hart Street
• Wedgewood Drive
• Lotus Lane
• Magnolia Drive
• Headlands Road (at Lakeview and at Corduroy)
• Robinwood Drive
• East Heisley Road
• Blackbrook Road
• Grace Court

Karvo's second contract, for $67,285.10, is a change order for paving Clearair Drive. The city expects Karvo's work to be completed by Sept. 27.

A & J's $193,500 contract calls for full-depth concrete repair on these roads:

• Pilgrim Drive
• Preson Hill Court
• Troy Court
• Wilderness Drive
• Ridgeway Drive
• Withrop Court
• Appleton Court
• Barnaby Lane
• Brainard Court

• Sutherland Court
• Traymore Court
• Weatherby Drive
• Birchwood Drive
• Galaxie Drive
• Silver Court
• Quail Point Lane

Both contractors submitted the lowest bids for their projects. Other upcoming projects will make improvements on Route 306 and Munson Road, along with others that will involve the city matching funds with grants, Filipiak said.
