Meet this Week's Whiz Kids: The Mentor High School Mock Trial Teams

The Mentor High Mock Trial teams scored first and second place in the county competition and will move on to regionals

Patch Whiz Kid of the Week

  • Names: Mock Trial Teams Rock and Terminator. (They used to be Teams Rock, Paper and Scissors; but, after Scissors dissolved, Paper changed its name to something more aggressive.)
  • Whiz Kids' School:
  • Whiz Kids' Accomplishment: The two Mentor High teams . They earned first and second place, and both will move on to the regional competition Feb. 25.
  • Whiz Kids' Key to Awesomeness: Hard work. There's no better way to put it.

The members of Team Rock and Team Terminator practiced every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon for weeks. Then they kicked it up a notch with the county competition approaching.

While other kids enjoyed their snow days by playing outside or lounging around the house, Team Rock and Team Terminator hit the library and scored some last-minute practice time.

Team advisers Carol Hoover, Katharine Glover and Dennis LoConti also deserve credit. They helped prepare the students for their dominant performance Friday.
