Lawnfield, Library Continue Civil War Series With Battle of Perryville
The park and library will discuss what was a tactical Confederate victory but a strategic win for the Union
James A. Garfield National Historic Site and Mentor Public Library will continue their series of lunchtime talks on the major battles of the Civil War with "The Battle of Perryville" at noon Wednesday.
"Perryville was the largest Civil War battle fought in Kentucky and is considered a tactical Confederate victory but a strategic win for the Union," said Todd Arrington, the chief of interpretation and education at the historic site.
"Everyone who attends this program will gain a better understanding of this battle as well as the eventual Confederate withdrawal that led to the battle of Stone’s River at the end of 1862."

Park Guide Scott Longert will be the featured speaker.

The library and park's joint series coincides with the park's commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
All of the talks are free and open to the public. However, those interested should register beforehand. They can do so on the library's website or by calling 440-255-8811.
