Lake Catholic Graduate Killed in Florida Crash

Brittney Gallagher, a 2009 graduate, was killed after striking another vehicle near Ebro, Fla.

A Lake Catholic High School graduate died this weekend in a car crash in the Florida panhandle.

Brittney Gallagher, who was on spring break from The Ohio State University, died Saturday morning in Ebro, Fla. after the car she drove hit another vehicle. Gallagher graduated from Lake Catholic in 2009, according to The News-Herald.

Courtney Miller of Niles was also pronounced dead. Lauren Kane of Willoughby and Diana Mitchell of Solon are listed as guarded and stable, respectively, at Bay Medical Center.

Florida state troopers told media outlets like WJHG.com that Gallagher "veered aggressively" back into the westbound lane after her vehicle crossed the center line on Highway 20. The 2000 Dodge spun out of control when the driver tried make an additional correction and struck the pickup of an Oklahoma man. Four of the five people in the second vehicle were taken to a Florida hospital.

"Heaven gained a beautiful angel tonight. Rest in peace Brittney. Prayers and love go out to the Gallagher family," Twitter user Jessica Stumbly tweeted this weekend.

Another user, Sean Colarossi of Willoughby tweeted: "I am devastated to hear of the loss of Brittney Gallagher. May God bless and help her amazing family through this. #heartbroken."
