Flood Watch Issued For Region

National Weather Service warns that there is potential for flooding

Well, we knew it was coming eventually, right?

After last year -- the most precipitious year on record for the city of Mentor -- we knew the rain would return.

So it's not entirely unexpected that the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the region.

Meteorologists say that a storm system coming into the area, combine with high-moisture levels, will cause slow-moving thunderstorms.

The heavy rain onto already saturated ground could cause some low-lying and poorly drained areas to flood.

The flood watch (which is not as serious as a flood warning) is scheduled to expire at 5:30 p.m. today.
