Flood Watch Issued For Lake County, Grand River

The river is expected to exceed its flood bank by Sunday afternoon

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Lake County and the Grand River, in particular.

The river's flood stage is eight feet. And, while the river's level was 7.1 feet as of Saturday morning, its expected to be deeper than eight feet by Sunday afternoon.

Consequently, the river is expected to flood the Lake Metroparks property south of Painesville and possibly Vrooman Road Sunday afternoon and evening.

Heavy rain -- between an inch and an inch and a half -- is expected throughout the region tonight.

That and unseasonable warmth have caused the snow to melt rapidly, which could cause flooding in some low-lying areas.

The flood watch is in effect through Sunday evening.
