Triathlon Training, Susan G. Komen & Northern Uganda: A Weekend Planner

There are a lot of fun events scheduled this weekend and many of them support worthwhile causes

Where/When: , 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday

Why Go: If you love good food and music and hate breast cancer, then I have the event for you.

Quaker Steak will be holding Ta-Ta Palooza -- the all-day concert -- Saturday. And its proceeds go to breast cancer treatment and research via the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure.

In addition to food and music, there will also be beer trailers, outdoor grilling, silent auctions, a  dunk tank, family-friendly activities, Ta-Ta Palooza T-shirts, a 50/50 raffle and much more.

Why Go: Learn more about the -- which strives to help the impoverished in Gulu, Uganda -- and about the situation in Northern Uganda as the Acholi people struggle in their recovery from the trauma of twenty years of violence.

The brunch's guest speaker is Father Jino Mwaka, priest of the Archdiocese of Gulu in Uganda.

4. YOUTH TRIATHLON TRAINING

Where/When: , 9 a.m. Saturday

Why Go: As in years past, North Coast Multisports will hold a free on-course training session for the annual .

Each participant should plan to bring all their gear including a bike and helmet for the training session. If you plan to attend this training please send an email to GCTriathlon@aol.com or call 330-686-0993.
