1. Kent Patch profiled a Kent State graduate who competed in the Miss Ohio pageant this weekend.

“A lot of people think we’re preparing for the pageant, but we’re just preparing for our lives, for being good, well-rounded girls,” Meggie Wittman said.

Her second year participating in Miss Ohio, Wittman was one of the top 10 finalists in 2010.

2. Cleveland Heights Police Department admitted that they failed to test rape material that was later linked to Anthony Sowell, who is suspected of kidnapping and killing 11 women, according to a story on Cleveland Heights Patch.

The city's Police Department had previously refused to release information pertaining to the rape material, saying it could be used as evidence in Sowell's ongoing trial.

3. A North Canton woman's friend turned her in to the police  to help him go to sleep.

The woman who reported the incident told police her friend gave the child a "small amount" of tequila in a shot glass and then a quarter of a shot glass inside a home in the 1000 block of Lois Avenue NW sometime in mid-May.

Police forwarded the case on to Stark County Child Protective Services.
