2. The kicked off its annual fundraising campaign with a bang at .

The MHS football team, cheerleaders and marching band all showed their support for the local charity, and UWLC President Deborah Foley even nabbed a pass from the Cardinals' quarterback.

3. Speaking of local charities,  and Caroline's Kids Pet Rescue have  against Mentor businessman Richard Osborne Jr.

The animal care groups filed a lawsuit earlier in April in . The lawsuit says the Lake Humane Society and Caroline’s Kids Pets Rescue signed a letter of intent in November to lease 7,200 square feet and paid Osborne a $4,500 refundable deposit.

However, Osborne settled the dispute by repaying the $4,500.

4. Mentor police were involved in a 3-hour standoff with a suicidal man early Wednesday morning in the  parking lot.

It ended without anybody getting hurt.

5. Finally, Patch has launched a new initiative for our Patch Readers: "Dispatches: The Changing American Dream."

We don't think there's one American Dream, but a multitude of American Dreams, which a multitude of people are working toward.
