Renovations could begin as early as next week and the is scheduled to be open by October.

3. I could probably list five important school stories from this week, which is impressive since it's summer and school is ostensibly out.

Mentor Schools Superintendent Jacqueline Hoynes to retire at the end of the school year. She said, while she still loves the district, she doesn't feel she has the energy to keep running it ad infinitum.

4. One last piece of Mentor Schools new: a the law suit filed by Eric Mohat's parents against the district.

Eric was a a 17-year-old  student who killed himself March 27, 2007. Eric's parents, Janis and William Mohat, filed a lawsuit against Mentor Schools after his death, saying their son killed himself because he was bullied and the school did not do enough to stop it.

Mohat's parents have the option to refile two of their allegations at the state level.
