Too Much Money In Politics? Sign Our Petition!

On Saturday, July 6 from 9 am until 5 pm, Mentor Move To Amend will be collecting signatures for their initiative petition at the main branch of the Mentor Public Library on Mentor Ave.  Our goal of 1776 signatures will result in placing an issue on the ballot in the November, 2014 general election for Mentor voters to consider.  If passed, Mentor City Council will be required to hold a biennial forums to discuss money in politics and it's effect on our democracy at the local, state and federal levels.  It will also require City Council to notify our state and federal elected representatives that the citizens of the City of Mentor are in favor of a constitutional amendment that would declare only human beings as people, not artificially created groups, and that money is not speech protected by the First Amendment and therefore can be regulated in political campaigns.

Please plan to visit us at the Mentor Public Library main branch on Saturday, July 6 from 9 am until 5 pm.  In addition to gathering signatures, we are looking for volunteers to help in this effort.  We are excited about having the opportunity to strengthen our democracy.
