Young Chefs Make Chocolate Treats At Great Lakes Mall

A group of young chefs went to Great Lakes Mall Tuesday to make the kind of mess that would not be tolerated at home.

It's Chocolate Week at Young Chefs Academy, and a group of youngsters made the most of it, learning how to bake cinnamon rolls, cupcakes and chocolate chip scones.

The Academy, which has been open since 2010, offers day camps and evening classes. Upcoming activities include "Stars of the Kitchen," where the kids will learn recipes from famous chefs like Guy Fieri, and "Copycat Week," which lets kids learn dishes from the likes of Olive Garden and The Cheesecake Factory. "It gives them a way to feel confident in the kitchen," instructor Heather Langguth said. "They want to help mom and dad, and this kind of sparks what is hopefully a lifelong process."
