Tony Sacco's Coal Oven Pizza Opening At Great Lakes Mall

The sit-down pizza restaurant will open its first location in Mentor later this year

Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza will open its first location in Ohio at Great Lakes Mall later this year.

The sit-down restaurant -- whose menu is in no way limited to pizza -- will include a full bar and have entrances both inside and outside of the mall.

The restaurant will occupy about 4,ooo square feet on the west side of the property, next to the building.

The addition of Tony Sacco’s will also make way for a new mall entrance next to the restaurant.

Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza is known its namesake -- a unique custom-built, 1,000 degree anthracite coal-burning oven.

It uses the oven to make its traditional pizzas and specialties, including the Napoli with meatballs, ricotta and provolone and the BBQ with chicken, bacon and barbecue sause.

The restaurant will also serves fresh salads, appetizers and baked flatbread sandwiches

"We use only the finest ingredients made from scratch each day," said Michael DuBois, the owner of the Mentor Tony Sacco's. "There are no freezers, fryers or microwaves and all of our food is baked exculusively in our custom coal burrning oven."

The restaurant's design will feature both indoor and outdoor patios with views of the action inside and outside of the mall, respectively.

Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza currently has seven open locations: two in Florida two in Michigan, two in Indiana and one in Illinois. Including the Great Lakes Mall location, there are 15 stores in development — seven in Chicago, five in Michigan, one in Indiana and one in North Carolina.

"We’re excited to welcome Tony Sacco’s to Great Lakes Mall and provide our guests with another delicious dining and entertaiment option," said Renee Lanzara, the marketing director for Great Lakes Mall, in a statement. "We also know shoppers will welcome the new mall entrance that will be created near the restaurant."

In 2011, , which has since attracted a number of new tenants including Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza, and , which opened earlier this year.

In addition to the new retailers, many existing Great Lakes Mall retailers have undergone renovations or expansions in the past year.
