Mentor's BurgerFi Location Under Construction

BurgerFi will offer burgers, hot dogs, micro beers and frozen custard.

Mentor residents will soon have an option for burgers that is already wildly popular in the South.

Workers have been re-imaging the exterior of 8748 Mentor Ave., where BurgerFi will soon open a free-standing restaurant.  The Florida-based franchise will offer burgers, hot dogs, micro brews and frozen custard.

"That building has been vacant since the downturn, and it's certainly a very visible building," Mentor Economic Development Director Ron Traub previously said of the former home of the Little Mountain Farmer's Market. "This will be an intriguing use and a unique concept to utilize the building."

The city approved a $10,000 economic development grant for BurgerFi earlier this year, according to a News-Herald report. The company plans on spending $1 million on the location. It expects to hire 50 employees with a payroll that will reach $460,000 by next year.

The Mentor Planning Commission approved BurgerFi's permit back in November.

BurgerFi has nearly 50 locations across the country.
