Mentor Salon Is A Tryst You Can Trust

After more than 30 combined years of experience, stylists Trish Schlacht and Alyssa Federico decided to go into business for themselves

Trish Schlacht wants people to feel relaxed and comfortable when they walk into Tryst, the new salon and spa she opened with Alyssa Federico.

"I want people to say, 'I don't feel like I need to do my hair and makeup to come here but the salon still looks great,'" Schlacht said. "I want them to get the feeling they would at an old-fashioned beauty shoppe."

Tryst -- which is at 8900 Mentor Ave., in the same complex as Chase Bank and Manhattan Deli -- opened earlier this month but it was decades in the making.

Schlacht and Federico have more than 30 years of combined experience as stylists. In fact, they met and became friends while working at the same salon.

"We've both worked at other places and we saw what could be better," said Schlacht of the decision to go into business for themselves.

"I have a business degree so I always wanted to have my own business," Federico added. "Now, at this point in our lives, the timing makes sense."

Tryst offers a full selection of services including hair cuts, styling and treatments, make up, nail, color and texture services. It will be adding spray tanning and lash extensions soon.

Those who want to get a taste of Tryst can come to its open house from 3 to 7 p.m. Aug. 12.

Guests can enjoy refreshments, giveaways and complimentary services, including:

  • polish changes and nail art
  • hand, arm and scalp massages
  • make-up and hairstyle touch ups
  • brow and lip waxes

Also, all beauty products bought or future services scheduled during the open house will be 10 percent off

Tryst's hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
