Kaiser Permanente Opens New Medical Office

Grand opening celebration open to the public set for Saturday

Kaiser Permanente is bringing health care closer to the homes of its patients with the recent opening of a 5,000-square-foot renovated medical office building at 7695 Mentor Avenue in the Great Lakes Plaza.

“We have thousands of members who live in the area, so we are bringing Kaiser Permanente health care to our members for a variety of reasons including that people want their health care services closer to home,” said Belva Denmark Tibbs, vice president of medical operations.

The Kaiser Permanente Mentor office will host a public grand opening celebration Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  The event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m., facility tours and health care screening checks for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and body max index from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

The facility, which opened Oct. 24, houses offices, patient examination rooms, a blood draw lab and pharmacy. The physician staff includes board certified internal medicine internists Dr. Martine Binstock and Mark Roth and board certified pediatricians Dr. Lydia Cook and Dr. Andrea Zets. The Mentor office also employs a registered nurse, a licensed nurse practitioner, two pharmacists and medical assistants.

Tibbs said the Mentor office treats approximately 30 to 40 patients a day. In addition to having access to their electronic medical records, patients have the ability to communicate with their physicians via a secured email system. What’s more, Kaiser Permanente also provides their patients with “telephone physician visits.”

“After our patients establish a relationship with our physicians, they may want to talk about a health concern over the phone for 10 or 15 minutes,” explained Tibbs. “These telephone visits with our physicians will save patients a co-pay and time because they won’t have to drive to the office.”

In Northeast Ohio, Kaiser Permanente delivers health care services to approximately 140,000 members in nine counties. In addition to the new health care facility in Mentor, Kaiser Permanente will be opening a new medical office later this month in Concord Township at 7536 Fredle Drive in the Gristmill Village Shopping Center. Additionally, Kaiser Permanente opened a medical office in North Canton last month and another medical office is planned to open in Ravenna in December.

“We’re very excited to be in Mentor,” said Tibbs. “The building is phenomenal, and more importantly, the staff and our physicians are so excited to deliver health care services to our patients.”

The medical office is open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The pharmacy is open 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
