Frank and Pauly's Restaurant Closes Doors

Restaurant's owner announces retirement via Facebook

After just a year in business, Frank and Pauly's Italian American Restaurant is leaving Mentor.

"Frank and Pauly's has now closed its doors," owner Dennis Koury wrote on the restaurant's Facebook page on Friday.

"I am going back to retirement. Thank you all for your support & loyalty."

The restaurant opened to a community that was excited to see a new business in the Sawyer Home at 9470 Mentor Ave. The Lake County landmark on the National Register of Historic places had been empty since Mark Fuerst closed his restaurants in 2008.

The Mentor restaurant was a continuation of the original Frank and Pauly's, which opened in 1993 in the BP Building in downtown Cleveland. That restaurant closed 13 years later after the passing of Dennis' brother, Wayne, the original owner.
