BurgerFi Opening Day Attracts Out-of-Door Line

The restaurant opened its first Ohio location in Mentor on July 30.

The big lines at BurgerFi began around 4 p.m. Tuesday and didn't let up.

The Florida-based franchise opened its first Ohio location at 8748 Mentor Ave. at 11 a.m. By 7 p.m., the line extended well out of the door and into the parking lot.

"I think people are really excited about it," said Angel O'Brien, whose husband, Doug, is one of three partners who own the franchise location.

"Everybody is out on Mentor Avenue and (the property) has been such an eyesore for so long. Now, it's pretty, it's different and I think people are drawn to it."

They also seemed drawn to the concept of angus burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard and beer under one roof. A few people in line said they waited 40 minutes.

BurgerFi has nearly 50 locations across the country. Check out the franchise's menu here.
