Alliance Solutions Matching Mentor Companies & Job Seekers

The staffing agency has been matching applicants with bioscience and industrial firms in the area since it opened.

Alliance Solutions officials thought it made little sense for Lake County job seekers to continue driving to its Independence office for opportunities closer to their residences.

The five-time Weatherhead 100 winner opened a satellite office in Mentor in October. Manager Kim Boyer said the recruiting agency got off to a fast start here, finding 80 workers for an undisclosed firm in the city.

"(Those looking for work) can come here and interview, it's 10, 15 minutes from their location," Boyer said. "They don't have to drive an hour or 45 minutes. You're not spending the day doing it."

The satellite office at 8334 Mentor Ave. Suite 205 has just three employees, but the work is highly targeted. Recruiters Brendan Washington and Karen Damm primarily help companies in the industrial, chemical, pharmaceutical, scientific research and device-making industries find employees for mostly "temp-to-hire" positions.

It's no coincidence that the company opened an office in Mentor, where there are plenty of companies in those fields. The company also does direct hiring and temporary work.

Boyer said the office has matched an employer and job seeker as quickly as 48 hours.

"It can be that quick," she said. "It's really nice to put people back to work because I've been on the other side of it.

"I think a lot of people get discourgaed and don't know where to turn ... I think we give people a lot of hope."
