Bike Rodeos, School Anniversaries & Rock 'N Roll Circuses: A Weekend Planner

Several organizations are holding events for good causes this weekend

Why Go: This free event emphasizes bike safety while still allowing the kids have fun.

It features a free bike raffle, games and activities, helmet decorating and a Mentor Police Department bike auction.

There will be a DJ, bike inspections, safety information and a bike rodeo that's open to all two-wheel bike riders younger the age of 12.

Where/When: , 6:30 p.m. Friday

Why Go: Join in the celebration of Sterling Morton's 50th birthday.

It is hosting a community open house with a short program that begins 7 p.m.

Check out memorabilia from the school's history and share memories with other parents, teachers and students.

Where/When: Livewire Lounge & Concert Hall (7865 Plains Rd, Mentor on the Lake), 2 p.m. Sunday

Why Go: You can enjoy good local bands and know your money is going to a good cause.

This concert is a benefit for Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital and Forbes House, Lake County's Shelter for abused women and children.

There will be six bands -- Denny Carleton, Spoon Too Soon, The Jeff Soukup Band, Andy's Last Band, The Sarah Bellamy Band and Special Guests: Reunion of The Balls of Fire -- as well as a balloon artist, live and Chinese auctions and a 50/50 raffle.

Why Go: The American Cancer Society would like to extend an invitation to cancer survivors and a guest to a celebration reception.

The “Best Birthday Party Ever!” is a kick-off to Relay season, hosted before the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life events taking place in Lake County this summer. Relay offers everyone in a community the opportunity to fight back against cancer.

At our birthday celebration, guests will judge a cake-decorating contest and be treated to a luncheon. Each survivor will receive a special gift at the door.

Space at the Survivors Reception is limited and reservations are required by this Friday.

5. 

Where/When: , 11 a.m. Saturday

Why Go: A large selection of vegetable plants, perennials, flowers and gardening supplies will be available. All proceeds will benefit the Wildwood Garden Club.

The garden club is one of several cultural arts clubs housed at Wildwood Cultural Center. It plans, plants and maintains the gardens around the Wildwood Manor House.

The sale will be held rain or shine.
