Video: Deepwood Employees Perform For Clients At Eikefest

Lake County Developmental Disabilities' employees throw their sixth annual concert for their clients

Each year, the employees of play a pair of concerts at their and Willoughby sites for their clients with special needs.

The employees performed this year's shows, dubbed Eikefest, Wednesday.

Eikefest is named after Ken Eiker who works as a habilitation specialist for LCDD. However, the show was founded by coworker Jaret Greig.

Eiker used to occasionally play his guitar for clients and Greig would cajole him with shouts of "Eikefest." Six years ago, Eiker called Greig's bluff, gathered some similarly musical coworkers together and performed for the clients.

The clients enjoyed it enough that the concert became an annual tradition.

This year, about 10 employees and volunteers from around the county gathered to play popular covers, including "Country Roads" and "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow," for appreciative audiences of more than 100 Deepwood clients.

"I'm lucky enough to have some limited talents and some musical friends and we're glad that people enjoy it," Eiker said.
