Mentor Public Library Presents Cleveland Orchestra Community Concert Preview

Music study group lecturer Dr. Rose Breckenridge will tell music fans about some of the pieces the Cleveland Orchestra will play during their May performances

Mentor Public Library is offering a special preview for Cleveland Orchestra fans at 7 p.m. this Monday at .

Music Study Group Lecturer Dr. Rose Breckenridge will offer a concert preview for the Cleveland Orchestra's performances from May 10 through 13, which will feature cellist Alisa Weilerstein.

The preview will include musical excerpts from Igor Stravinsky's "Firebird Suite" and Dmitri Shostakovich's "Cello Concerto No. 1." Breckenridge is a regular concert preview speaker at Severance Hall.

This presentation will be geared to both new and experienced music lovers. Breckenridge will provide background on the composers and compositions, plus guided listening to musical excerpts.

Recent Monday University programs at Mentor Library have introduced patrons to chamber music from a string trio.

“Now our patrons will enjoy a sampling of how classical music is played by the Cleveland Orchestra,” Mentor Librarian Barbara Hauer said.

In partnership with the Mentor Community Arts Commission, Monday University at the Library brings special monthly programs from exciting new guest speakers.
